Christopher (Chris) Mitchel Harrison
Christopher (Chris) Mitchel Harrison, 64, died in his sleep on May 19, 2022. Chris was born August 8, 1957 to John H. and Joanne M. (Chriss) Harrison. He graduated from San Pedro High School in 1975 and spent a physically demanding year as a commercial deep-sea fisherman. In 1977, he joined the Navy, studied electronics, and served honorably in Hawaii as an Electronics Technician.
After the Navy, Chris worked with his father and brother at Neptune Electronics. In the mid 1980’s, he spent two years working with the Parr family and their hotel chain in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico as communications technician. He loved the people he worked with and considered his time there some of his best. After an accident left him physically handicapped, he moved back to San Pedro where he continued to work part-time as an Electronics Technician.
Chris loved reading, photography, travel, San Pedro, his friends, and his cat. Science fiction and military stories were his favorites, and he stayed informed of the latest science and technology advances. While in his wheelchair, he vacationed in Washington DC, collected Go-Pro movies of air shows in San Diego, and in 2016 he fulfilled a life-long wish and travelled to Japan to “see the sites.” Chris had both stamina and a kind soul. For the past several years, he lived with and helped care for his memory-challenged father while dealing with his own handicap.
Never married, Chris is survived by brothers John H. Harrison Jr and Daniel D. Harrison, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be a Naval burial at sea.
