Ulrike S. McKeegan
Ulrike McKeegan, of Damascus, OR, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023, in Damascus. Ulli was born in Tegernsee, Germany, to Johannes and Ursula Friedrich on May 29, 1947. She was preceded in death by her brother, Knut, and is survived by her sister, Ute, her husband, Tim, her sons, Andreas and Mark, as well as cousins Astrid, Dagmar, Roland, and Carola. Her cherished sons and husband were by her side at the time of her passing.
Ulli spent her early adult years in Germany and the US, as well as extensive time traveling throughout the world with her first husband, and father to their two sons, Hans. She later settled in Nevada, where she met her second husband, Tim McKeegan, whom she wed on September 23, 2000, in Reno. In 2004, Ulli and Tim moved to Oregon to be closer to her sons.
Ulli held a variety of jobs throughout her life, last working as a caregiver with various companies before retiring. Ulli loved to cook and excelled at creating fantastic meals (always with extra portions for Andy and Mark), but she wouldn’t pass up a pizza night or crab-fest with her boys. The feasts she created for holiday meals and Super Bowl parties are legendary. She also enjoyed playing Pictionary and poker (except Omaha) with the family and played a mean game of Scrabble. She was especially fond of table-top curling, where she earned the title of “The Ice Queen.”
Ulli will be remembered for the love, brightness, and joy she brought into the lives of those who knew her. To fulfill Ulli’s wish, a small gathering in her honor will be held at a future date.
As the lyric from one of the many songs she enjoyed says, “Adios, my darling, alle Träume vergehen (all dreams pass).”
