Hugh Kevin McNeal
Hugh Kevin McNeal passed away on March 10, 2023, at home after a long illness.
Hugh Kevin McNeal was born to Hugh McNeal Jr. and Barbara Ellen McNeal on January 3, 1953, in the District of Columbia. He was the second of five children.
Kevin was a gentle soul. He was quite artistic. He loved cooking and ceramics. He won a prize for one of the ceramic figures he entered in a competition. He could wrap the best Christmas presents of anyone in the family. He enjoyed country music and always had a comment on the Country Music Awards. He liked watching television, especially old horror movies. Later on in life, he became more interested in watching the news and following politics. Kevin and his sister, Lynn had many thought-provoking conversations about politics, especially after the 45th president was elected. (They were in agreement).
Kevin graduated from McLean High School in McLean, Virginia and went on to study culinary arts in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. He held a number of cooking positions both in the East Coast and in the Puget Sound area. His final position was as a kitchen manager with the Kensington Retirement Home in Tacoma, WA until ill health caused him to retire.
He moved to Portland at a friend’s suggestion and made it his home for the remainder of his life.
He will be dearly missed.
There are no memorial services planned at this time.
