Janice Lynn Raines
Janice Lynn Raines left this earth for eternal life on 1/3/2023. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio, to John Thomas Jr. and Audrey Raines in 1950. Growing up in Campbell, Ohio, Janice attended Reed Elementary and Campbell Memorial High School as did her father, aunts, uncles, sisters, and cousins.
A proud graduate of Campbell Memorial, Janice played the clarinet in the marching band. She worked for Ohio Bell in her senior year of high school prior to moving to Los Angeles, California, in 1970.
Janice began her formal education at California State University, Los Angeles and earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of La Vern. She also earned a master’s degree at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Janice was employed as a financial analyst for MECLA, Hughes Aircraft, and the Fashion Channel. She also worked for the City of Los Angeles for many years as a senior financial analyst for the Los Angeles Fire Department before transferring to the City’s Human Trafficking department, where she retired. Janice also taught medical billing classes.
She was an avid shopper who lived a full life, traveling to many stateside and international destinations, including Mexico, Canada, Europe, Korea, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and China. Janice will be remembered and forever missed by her son, Donald Raines (LeTigra); grandsons, Donald and Damon Raines; and sisters, Debra Bryant (Richard), Barbara Raines, and Sharon Raines-Finn. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, John and Lillian Raines Sr, and Mike and Zella Hicklin; and great-grandparents, Hezzie and Viola Zeigler, and Nathan and Bertha Harris.
Per her wishes, there will be no services.
