Jessica Lauren Balzer
On September 24th, 2022, Jessica Lauren Balzer, beloved daughter, sister and aunt, passed away at the age of 25 in Cathedral City, California.
Jessica was born on December 5th, 1996 in Olympia, Washington to Thomas and Kathryn Balzer. Jessica grew up in Shelton, Washington. Jessica loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit on February 25th, 2007, at Shelton First Baptist Church.
Jessica’s education began at Evergreen Christian School and graduated from Choice High School in 2015. After high school, Jessica worked four years at Hawks Prairie Auto & Boat Licensing until she relocated to California in 2020 to pursue a career in nursing.
Jessica attended Concorde College in Garden Grove, California, where she received her Medical Assistant certificate. Jessica completed her externship with Desert Family Medical Center in Palm Springs, California, where she was then hired part-time as a Medical Assistant. Jessica planned to return to school and continue her pursuit of a nursing career as she worked in the field that she loved.
Jessica was truly liked by all her co-workers at Desert Family Medical Center and Dr. Palmer said Jessica was one of their better hires and a very bright and hardworking young woman. For the short time she was with their clinic, Jessica’s bright smile and kindness was noticed. The patients really liked her and she had a bright future ahead of her in the medical field. Jessica was led to the nursing field because of her passion to care for others. Jessica was known for her kind and compassionate spirit. She took joy in loving others before herself.
Jessica was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Richard Cox, and both her grandmothers, Florence Cox and Bernadene Balzer. Jessica is survived by her parents, Thomas and Kathryn Balzer, her brother, Nathan Balzer, her two nephews, Hunter Balzer and Cedar Balzer, and her paternal grandfather, Arthur Balzer, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jessica is also survived by the love of her life, Jay Hernandez.
While Jessica will be deeply missed by many, we are thankful that she is in the Loving Arms of Jesus.
A memorial service will be held for Jessica on Friday, November 11th, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Shelton First Baptist Church, 428 W. Cota Street, Shelton, Washington.
